Belize was an incredibly beautiful, serene place unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. Our family rented a home right on the beach, where we had access to a pool, tennis court, and golf carts for cruising around town. We fished, swam with manatees, and generally just relaxed and enjoyed slow living. I spent a lot of time in the sun reading–it was pure bliss.
Aside from the occasional dinner out, I kept my wardrobe casual and beachy. Belize is a very laid-back place. A few sundresses, a pair of shorts, and tees like this one served me well. We had laundry service at the house, which allowed me to pack for 8 days in a carry-on (this felt like a big accomplishment for me).
I bought this maxi dress to serve both as an elevated cover-up as well as night out option. It’s SO good. The small is slightly oversized, so I’ll be able to get plenty of use out of it when spring comes and I’m a few more months along. I have some resistance to buying actual maternity clothes, because I want to make smart investments that I’ll be able to wear when I’m not pregnant too. This swimsuit was the perfect full-coverage non-maternity piece for the 4 month phase. And I’ll be able to wear it again this summer after baby Z is born. A win-win!
A few other things to note: this book is the most beautiful, poetic story I’ve read in long time–a must read. This exfoliating mask quite literally saved my skin after being in the sun for a week straight. I lived the dewy-skin, mascara-only life while I was there and couldn’t recommend it enough.
