As I bring more traditional elements into our home, I’ve taken note of just how many traditional spaces are shown layered with natural fiber rugs. There are so many ways to do a natural jute or seagrass rug and you’ll see them in all different styles of homes. I fell in love with the charm, timelessness, and versatility of the rush matted rugs shown in so many traditional English homes.
I searched high and low for a US manufacturer, but this type of rug is most common in the UK and so they’re harder to come by here. A few Etsy shops seemed promising, but I didn’t want to take a chance on quality and construction. Tate & Darby was a front runner and I almost purchased from there until I found Rush House. They’re fairly new to the retail scene and sell their natural seagrass rugs solely in a 9×12 size, but you can easily add or remove squares as needed. Brilliant. And so affordable.
The rugs are handmade and the character and tone of them are stunning (a very good, warm neutral–not yellow). I will say, I was a little disappointed in the comfort until I installed this rug pad underneath and it is an absolute GAME CHANGER and must-have if you purchase.
I am fully obsessed–all smiles every time I walk by this room. xx
