Style: Olive Green and Distressed Denim

On my way to work a few days ago, the dj’s on the radio were debating which outfits women most commonly associate with feeling their sexiest. It seemed to be a pretty split vote between the loungewear and messy bun at-home look and the Kardashian-esque bodycon dress and heels for a night out. It got me thinking about the items in my closet I feel the best in and what my friends would say they feel their best in? I didn’t truly respond to either side of the spectrum of the discussion on the radio, I’m somewhere in the middle.

Hands down, a good pair of distressed denim makes me feel my best. Paired with a new top and comfortable heels, those are my go-to items for feeling confident, whether it be out with the girls, on date, or to the grocery store (okay, sub the heels for sneakers here if we’re being honest). I’ve heard the theory many times that women either dress for men or they dress for women (on trend/labels other women know), but first and foremost shouldn’t we all be dressing for ourselves?

I know very well that there are many ways to feel confident in yourself that have nothing to do with clothes or appearance. I see style as an extension of one’s personality, a creative outlet and way to express yourself without saying a word. Getting dressed in a favorite piece that’s makes you feel comfortable and completely you is good feeling, right? This simple button-up may not be textbook sexy, but it’s one of my favorite colors, makes me feel great, and pairs perfectly with my beloved distressed denim.

P.S. Don’t mind the wrinkles, I have a strong aversion to irons.

  • I totally love your outfit and I know exactly what you mean. Sexiness is all about confidence and any outfit that makes you feel prepared to face any challenge = sexiness.
