How to Refresh Your Dining Room For Spring

Happy hump day, my friends! I’ve been doing some serious premature spring cleaning and with that always comes the desire to change out some decor for the upcoming season. There’s nothing like a clean, fresh space with the windows open after being cooped up all winter long, amiright?

My dining table decor is constantly changing and evolving. I casually pull items from the kitchen and the living room and make centerpieces using whatever suites me in the moment. I brought these candlesticks home with me a few weeks ago that inspired this spring look and thought I’d share a few tips for styling your own table this season.

Make it functional | Why not keep the things you use the most out on display? Allow your cappuccino mugs and breakfast plates to easily be accessed in the mornings by stacking them neatly on your table. It creates a styled yet lived-in space. Small dishware can simply be swapped out with the change of seasons and holidays to match whatever theme or color palette you’re going for.

Make it fresh | I love having a handful of fresh flowers in the house, especially tulips in the spring. I sometimes use unconventional objects to house them in – a water pitcher or an old candle jar. If you want something that lasts longer or costs less, think about using succulents, potted herbs, or a collection of branches from around your home instead.

Make it edible | A bowl of fruit is for the classic and practical. You can of course go the lemon or apple route, but satsuma oranges with the stems, pears, or artichokes are all major stunners. Get an oversized bowl or pair of tiered cake stands to display them.

Mix and match | Go crazy and combine all three. Having an odd number of objects at different heights helps with balance and visual interest. Candlesticks, books, a collection of different sized vases or apothecary jars – anything goes!

I hope you’ll play around with some of these ideas. Send me a link/email/tweet if you do, I’d love to see your interpretation! xx
