My mom is the type of person that knows how to make every holiday, birthday, and important milestone throughout life a truly special occasion. We always had thoughtfully themed birthday parties, handmade Halloween costumes, cakes made from scratch, we hunted Easter eggs until well into our 20s, her house looks like the North pole at Christmastime, and to this day I still receive a handmade Valentine’s day card in the mail each year.
She’s taught me the meaning of kindness, compassion, and the importance of making others feel special. I like to think that I show how grateful I am to her for everything she’s been and done for me often, but it is nice to have a whole day dedicated to doing just that.
Finding gifts for my mom has always been a piece of cake, because we have the same taste in nearly everything. That makes shopping for her enjoyable for me and I’m almost always positive that she’ll love the end result. I try to mix a few fun items like a piece of jewelry or a beautiful candle with something she’s mentioned she wants like a new face mask or pair of pajamas.
The past few years, my family has spent the afternoon on Mother’s Day at a winery a little over 30 minutes out of my parent’s house to enjoy a bottle of wine, nice weather, and live music. I’m hoping the rain holds out so that we can continue the tradition. We usually end the day at home, celebrating with a casual dinner, dessert, and presents on the back patio.
What are your Mother’s Day plans? Do you have the perfect gift chosen for the special mama’s in your life? In case you’re a procrastinator like me, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite last minute finds below.
Aerin candle | Jo Malone perfume | Le Spec sunglasses | Striped pajama set | Hat Attack straw tote | Herbivore body polish | Mejuri gold cuff | Steven raffia slides | Tom Dixon candle gift set
The candles were gifted to me by Amara and are going to make my mama so happy! Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog. xx
