Holiday Herb + Gilded Candles

candles-4

My brother and his wife will be in town from Birmingham this weekend to celebrate Christmas a little early and we’re having our traditional holiday meal on Saturday. I’m so excited to start the festivities early I can hardly contain myself.

My mom usually asks me to take charge in the table decor department and I’m happ to do so. I’m going with a simple, neutral palette (are you shocked?) with lots of candles. It’s going to be a perfectly relaxed and laid back meal with the best company.

I greatly appreciate quality and aesthetics, so I only DIY when it requires little of my time and effort and no one is able to tell that the item has been crafted by my own two hands. These votives are so simple and only took me a few hours to complete.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Glass votives (I used these from IKEA)
Gold foil sheets
Gold foil adhesive
Brush to apply adhesive
Soft bristle brush
Wire clippers
Floral wire
Herbs (I used rosemary + thyme)
Votive candles

DIRECTIONS
Make sure the glass votives are clean. Apply the adhesive to the bottom half of the glass and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before applying the gold foil.
Using your soft bristle brush, remove any access foil.

Measure your wire around the bottom of the votives, cut with wire clippers, and twist ends of wire together. Secure the herbs to the wire wreaths by wrapping additional wire around them until tight.

Place the votives inside the wreaths, light and enjoy!
