Last summer I decided I was ready to move from renting to buying with a little over a month left on my lease. If you’ve ever bought a home, you know this process takes time, most times more than a month. Procrastination is the name of the game around here, folks. And if you know me at all, you know that I am particular about my living spaces and emotional to the core. Needless to say, putting a time limit on house hunting, interesting-rating, closing etc. tested my sanity.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I ended up with my little condo in West Plaza. I did not, however, end up with a move in ready condo, but I didn’t want that. My building was built in the 70’s, so I knew I had my work cut out for me. Luckily there were no structural issues to deal with so I could move onto the part that matters the most, aesthetics! When I moved in, the walls were all painted a lovely dark tan matching the carpet laid throughout to a T, sounds pretty right? My vision for the place was a complete 180: white walls, dark wood floors, natural light and fibers. In the case that you don’t follow me on Pinterest, I’ve transported my condo inspiration to to this post.
So, my dad is a pretty handy guy, having worked in construction in his college days and so graciously offers to help me tear things apart and piece them back together around here most weekends. I can’t believe how far this place has come in 10 months, but boy, renovation sure is an adventure.
This weekend is a kitchen weekend, as most weekends for the past few months have been. Projects are drawn out a little longer than I’d prefer when you’re only able to work on the weekends, but I’m beginning to be able to see the light at the end of that dark, galley tunnel. I’ve been studying up on YouTube videos on how to install backsplash. It’ll be my first time, so if you have resources or tips you’d like to throw my way I’d be forever grateful.
I’ll share a few photos of the place soon, but they aren’t pretty, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
