I figure it’s about time you get a little tour of this place I call home. It actually physically pains me to muck this blog up with so much ugliness. But that just means you get more posts this week so that this one moves on down the page and out of sight. I probably could have gotten better photos of the space. These are actually cut from my appraisal. I was unprepared and so anxious to get rid of all the beige that it totally slipped my mind to document just how great it looked in the beginning.
So without further ado, here are the befores in all their glory:
The tall ceilings along with the natural light that fills this room is what sold me on this place. My porch looks out toward the Plaza and offers the loveliest view of the sunrise.
Yes, that is alligator skin vinyl flooring. Cute!
Not pictured is the second bedroom, the hallway and the sunroom in the back of the condo, but I’ll give you the cliffnotes: beige, beige, more beige.
In all seriousness, I feel extremely lucky to have ended up with this one. I know that it did not start out as bad as I dramatize it to be. Most of the changes have been “simple” aesthetic updates that have turned out to be pretty fun projects. I use the words simple and fun loosely, as most of our projects have come with their fair share of complications and arguments. But what renovation doesn’t?
I can’t believe it will be a year in 1 month since I moved into this little condo of mine. As a twenty-something gal with only 3 years of adult jobs under my belt, I wanted this blog to be a place for me to share that it is absolutely possible for young people on budgets to buy (or rent) a place and fill it with objects and memories that make it feel like a home.
If you follow me on instagram, you probably have an idea of how things have evolved around here (here, here, here, and here). The beauty of owning your own place is that it is always evolving. I don’t know if it will ever be finished to my standards, but I’ve made peace with that and can’t wait to share more of my labor of love with you!
[…] in my condo, I’ve slowly been updating when and where I can. It’s come a long way since it’s all-beige-everything days, and now that I have the foundation set with hardwood flooring, bright white walls, new […]
I bet that balcony area is the perfect spot for a summer night. I’m excited to see what you’ve done with it so far!
