The Great Bathroom Debate: Shower or Bath?

The Bathroom Debate: Shower or Bath? | Rachael Adele

When I work at home, either on freelance projects or home projects, I tend to have something playing in the background – I don’t enjoy working in silence.

Last week I was patching and painting walls and turned on Genevieve’s Renovation on Netflix for some inspiration. I’d never heard of the show because I don’t have cable, but I am a long time Genevieve Gorder fan. If you haven’t seen the show, she embarks on the task of expanding her New York town home with many bumps along the way, but the end result is AMAZINGGG. Her use of tile, color, and unique furniture finds are always so unexpected and perfectly matched.

One thing that had me scratching my head about this renovation though was that girlfriend put a bathtub in her office. She originally wanted a hot tub on the rooftop, but the plan didn’t get approved by the building so this was the second best option. It was a beautiful bathtub, sure! But it got me thinking, to what lengths would I go to to get one in my home?

I’ve never been a bath person, but a lot of my friends are! I’ve forever envied said bath people: the ability to relax and do something completely enjoyable for themselves. It sounds therapeutic and romantic in theory. And they make such a statement in a bathroom (and office?). For me, taking a bath mostly involves thinking about how the water is getting cold, and that I’m going to have to shower afterwards anyway, and that I have to be really careful not to drop my phone in the the tub – not so relaxing.

I think I’d rather have a luxurious, oversized walk-in shower with a big ole shower head or two. THAT, my friends, is something I would make peace with anywhere in my home. So I’m curious, are you a bath person or a shower person?
