This time of year rolls around each year and I am itching to decorate for Christmas. It feels all the more necessary, with how things have gone this year, so I’m decking the halls a little sooner than normal. My style is fairly simplistic when it comes to my Christmas decor. I forgo the traditional tchotchkes and novelty items and focus more on natural and classic decor.
HOLIDAY GREENERY
I typically let fresh greenery do the talking when decoration for the holidays. I’m drawn to the effortless drape of a cedar garland on mantel and boxwood wreaths hung with velvet ribbon, lining the windows. We have a faux Christmas tree and I love the ease of it for now. But I think I’m going to talk Zach into getting a real tree when Gemma is old enough to understand the season. There’s just something so nostalgic and magical about the smell and the feel–I want those memories for her!
CANDLELIGHT AMBIANCE
Is there anything better than the soft glow of candles and the lights on the tree in the evenings while watching Christmas movie, hot cocoa in hand? Lighting will always bring magic to a space during the holidays. Hurricane vases on the coffee table and a few brass taper holders for the dining table are my go-to’s for creating a memorable occasion.
BRING ON THE COZY
This time of year, we spend a lot more time indoors and an easy, practical way of updating your space for the season is swapping out your everyday decor for cozy throw pillows and blankets. I’m leaning into classic Ralph Lauren vibes this holiday with plaid and cashmere accents. I just snagged vintage Ralph Lauren tartan tablecloth from Ebay and I’m in love the instant mood change in our dining room.
